No trip to the Central Coast would be complete without a visit to world-famous Hearst CastleŽ. Built from 1919 to 1947, the estate that William R. Hearst referred to as "the ranch" is today one of the most visited homes in America. This State Historical Monument is a Mediterranean style estate with 2 pools, tennis courts, elaborate Italian renaissance gardens, 3 guest houses and a 70,000 square foot main house. This museum houses a collection of primarily Spanish and Italian art work from the 15th-18th centuries. Experience California's rich history on your next vacation to the Central Coast.
Tour Information Hearst CastleŽ is open for tours daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year's Day. Four daytime tours are available. Daytime tours last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Tours begin around 8:00 am and run at intervals throughout the day until approximately 3:00 p.m. during winter and later during summer and holidays. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 1-800 444-4445. |
