Watersports

Road Condition:
While scenic Highway 1 is a natural beauty, from time to time the road has temporary closures. The most current conditions of the road can be found here year-round along with directions if their is a detour.
Current Conditions: Highway 1 is open between San Simeon and Carmel.
Weather
Blessed with the ideal ocean side location the weather for San Simeon and the surrounding communities is moderate year round. Winter temperatures range from daily lows of the high 40s to daily highs in the 60s. Summer temperatures range from daily lows in the mid-50s to highs in the mid-70s. Appropriate Attire
Most of the residents of the Central Coast dress casually and comfortably. Light to medium weight clothes are sure to be plenty. Sweaters and light jackets are common for the evenings and possibly foggy mornings.
Elephant Seals
Seven miles north of the Cavalier, a well established rookery of Northern California Elephant Seals offers a close-up viewing of these massive mammals. The best viewing is from November through March during the breeding and birthing season. The Friends of the Elephant Seals has an information office located in the Cavalier Plaza.
